Christmas Traditions

This is the best week of the year. This may also be the longest week of the year. Christmas week is Magic, There’s no way around it. I’m so fortunate to have such great kids that make that magic come to life. Our week has been full of so many great things like, shopping, parties, traditions and a new baby niece.

Although busy, what’s Christmas without all the things that make Christmas so much fun.  The Traditions.  I try not to cram too many traditions at my family so they never become a hassle or get downplayed because the girls get older, busier or too cool to do. I have chosen a few that I think will stick around even after they have their own families. 

My most favorite is the cookies.  This year may have been the easiest with all the girls old enough to understand the decorating concept.  (Last year we ended up with piles of icing on tiny little cookies.)  This year though instead of making cookies from ALL the Christmas cookies cutters I have, I picked 2 and we made the best of it!

 

Last year it took a chisel and jack hammer to get the icing off of my island so this year, I made a tablecloth out of wax paper!  Worked like a charm.

I also have squeeze bottles so the girls don’t squeeze icing out of the back of the piping bag.  That’s a mess if you've never seen it happen.

If you don’t have cute little squeeze bottles, you can use mustered or ketchup bottles!  They work just the same!

Sometimes (even in cute little squeeze bottles) the icing gets away from you.  But, if you have a little sister handy, she can lick it off of you!!

 

My job was to decorate what the girls did not and so people could actually recognize what the girls had made.  Reindeer out of circles and Santa hats out of party hats.

    

You can even put Santa hats on the reindeer!

So far, it’s been a great week.  Tomorrow night after Church, we will open presents from each other and the girls will open the 3 Joshua and I got them.  (Three each like the wise men brought Jesus.)   Then they will each set out one of the cookies they decorated for Santa and I will read as many of the Christmas books as I can stay awake for.  Christmas day will be nothing but fun and we will spend it together.  I can’t wait!  Magic I tell you; Magic!

Meet Georgia Claire

Okay, I’ve settled down and I'm not so excited and hyper.  I’m so excited to have a new niece.  I just love adding babies to my family…

This girl has the most amazing cheeks.  They are so squeezable and loveable I stare at them until I forget where I am for a half hour or so.  I got to put her first little outfit on her (My sister did that for all of my kids) so after I got her dressed, I took 1,933,867 pictures of her.  These definitely aren’t up to professional standards by any means, but like I said earlier, I was a little spun up and excited.  I may do better next time but I see those cheeks and loose all thoughts except that I want to squeeze and kiss them.

Promises Promises

It’s been so long I almost forgot how to do this.  I’m sorry people.  I can’t believe how busy I have been…  Blessed Busy of course.  I now have 3 kids in 3 different schools in which I volunteer at all 3 of.  I have my pictures which are buying yall’s Christmas presents this year and we have more animals than most zoos.  I’m a busy girl.  You would think with as much as I work I should have a maid, but well…. I can’t get one to come back more than once so that idea is out!

My goal is to have 10003973 posts done by the new year so I can start again keeping you all informed of all the injustice that goes on around here.  Did I say injustice?  I meant the fun activates that make up our days.

So, I’ll leave you with this:  The pictures that will go on the back of our Christmas card.  I’m not going to show you it all because I may still get them sent out.  I say I “MAY”.

There is a huge chance, this may be my last post for a while and I will break yet another promise to you…   so for now,

OH Christmas Tree…..

Were into that whole thing about going to a tree farm and cutting down that perfect and most important symbol of Christmas Symbols… The Christmas Tree.  We we go as far as to turn it into an all day event.  We start by going to breakfast then heading out of town passing countless side of the road tree lots to get to this one tree farm.

Once we arrive we get a saw.  The old fashion kind you move back and forth until you cut all the way though kind.  Not the chainsaw kind that my hunny would prefer!

Then we hop on some old trailer that is being pulled by an even older tractor that smells very strongly of diesel…  My kids were coughing and hacking because of the fumes but really it’s all part of the experience.  Then not even 20 yards later were dropped off.  To die find a tree!

We then go in search of the perfect tree that will so perfectly fit in our house and stand over all our presents!

Then just like lights shinning down upon it from heaven, we see it.

Then each girl takes forever to try to cut it down themselves and finally Dad comes in and gets it down!

And like any good family we pose for pictures!  Awwwwwwe

Like all the other goobers there, we tie it to the top of our car!  It’s just more fun then taking Joshua’s truck and throwing it in the back!

Joshua making plenty of fun of us!  We get a kick out of the things we do sometimes!

Then home to decorate and spend countless house trying to get the Christmas lights to work!  (Joshua thinks it’s a waste of $$ to go buy new every year but it’s no problem spending 4 hours to check every bulb!)  Fun times!  Can’t wait until next year!
